Founded in 1889 and named for our benefactors, Judge Myles O’Connor and his wife Amanda, O’Connor Hospital began as “a sanitarium for the sick, a home for the aged, an asylum for orphans and a school for children.” At the suggestion of Archbishop Riordan of San Francisco, the O’Connor’s asked the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul to operate the hospital. In 1953, O’Connor Hospital moved to its present day site on Forest Avenue in San Jose, California. We were the first hospital in Santa Clara County and are the only faith-based hospital in San Jose.
For more than 120 years, O’Connor Hospital has provided the community with a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services and community benefit programs. We offer a comprehensive array of therapeutic, diagnostic and patient support services including interventional radiology, diagnostic imaging, emergency services, physical and occupational therapies and pastoral care.
