With the support of our generous donors, O’Connor Hospital Foundation is able to directly impact the health and well-being of the community by supporting a variety of services and projects at O’Connor Hospital. In 2009, donations benefited the following:
Our Cancer Center opened a completely remodeled and enhanced Cancer Resource Center where our patients and the community can seek information about the diagnosis, treatment and survival of cancer.
Our Family Center received new furnishings and room enhancements that will boost our patient’s comfort and ease. The Pediatric Unit and the Mother/Baby Unit purchased new equipment that will elevate the level of care our patients receive and increase patient safety. Additionally, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was the recipient of grants form the Saratoga Rotary Charitable Foundation, the Mission City Community Fund and the O’Connor Hospital 89ers, which enable the unit to purchase innovative baby bottle warmers.
The Family Health Center was recognized for their outstanding work in training family medicine residents and was awarded a grant from the Palo Alto Medical Foundation to continue their teaching program. Our residents were able to sustain the Family Health Center’s Reach Out and Read program by purchasing new books made possible by a grant award from The Silicon Valley Realtors Charitable Foundation. Also, the center was a chosen beneficiary of proceeds from O’Connor Hospital Foundation’s 3rd Annual Golf Tournament and was able to purchase new equipment that will expand the services they provide to the community.
The Heart Center purchased new life-saving equipment for our Cardiac Catherization Lab through the generosity of an annual donor. The Cardiac Rehab Center also acquired new equipment for patient use and increased associate education and training.
Nursing Education rolled out a new online learning system that enables nurses to expand their knowledge and take the courses needed to stay up-to-date with their certifications and skills.
