Other Giving Options:

  • Matching Gifts:  Many employers match gifts made by their employees, spouses or retirees to not-for-profit organizations. These programs double the impact of your gift. For more information contact your Human Resources department.
  • Stock Gifts: Transfer a gift of securities. The advantage of a stock donation is that you, the donor, avoid paying capital gains tax on the market value appreciation of the shares. This tax benefit can reduce the cost of the gift when long or mid-term appreciated stock is donated. We’ll use the date the shares enter our account as the gift date and credit you with the market value for that date. To obtain the information you will need to electronically transfer stock, please contact Nancy Crowley, Director of Development at (408) 947-2996.
  • Gifts of Real Estate: When you make an outright gift of real property held for more than a year, you obtain an income tax charitable deduction equal to the property’s full fair market value. This deduction lets you reduce the cost of making the gift and frees cash that otherwise would have been used to pay taxes. In addition, you also avoid capital gains tax on the property’s appreciation. Furthermore, the transfer isn’t subject to the gift tax, and the gift reduces your taxable estate. For more information, please contact Toni Neary Harper, Foundation Chief Executive Officer, at (408) 947-2896.
  • Gifts at the Time of Death: During a bereavement period, friends often see an appropriate means to express sympathy. The following message in the obituary of the deceased provides an avenue to make a meaningful and thoughtful gift. Memorial gifts may be made to O’Connor Hospital Foundation, 2105 Forest Avenue, San Jose, CA 95128-1425.
